Alex Davis is the Winemaker, Vineyard Manager, Business manager, Owner and reluctant “boss” at Porter Creek Vineyards. He prides himself on putting together a staff of capable and self-motivated individuals who appreciate a low pressure-working environment. He spends most of his time involved in a very “hands on” fashion in all aspects of the business. Alex lives on the property and enjoys watching over it. Outside of work, he spends most of his time with his family engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking, boating and raising animals.
Jonathan has been a fixture on the property since August of 2005. You will most likely find him graciously hosting you in the tasting room, but he also helps with harvest…from the moment we pick, to the moment it goes into barrel. Jonathan is also an excellent ambassador for all activities in the western Sonoma County area, so if you are in need of recommendations of any sort, please reach out. Outside of Porter Creek Vineyards, he spends his time reading and songwriting, hiking, SCUBA diving, motorcycling, and exploring all of the treasures that the area has to offer.

Scott, a Kansas native, has been farming and ranching throughout the Western Hemisphere for over 15 years. Cowgirl, his trusty sidekick, is often seen hunting gophers in the vineyard or greeting patrons at the tasting room.
Maria has been with Porter Creek Vineyards for 30+ years, originally hired by George Davis, Alex’s father. Maria started part time, and worked her way to full time eventually. She helps with everything in the vineyard, from planting, to all aspects of harvest, pruning, and bottling and labelling!
It is difficult to picture Porter Creek without Maria’s presence. Maria is also responsible for the beautiful gardens around the house and tasting room areas. Maria always has a smile to give…so say hi when you see her!
After a long career in education, Crystal pivoted to wine in 2016, and she’s never looked back. She and her husband discovered Porter Creek Vineyards when they first moved to Sonoma County in 1998, and it’s been her happy place ever since! When she’s not inhaling the beauty that is the Russian River Valley, you can find her at her desk writing poetry or reading recipes.
Paul is our resident Scotsman, and has been hosting and entertaining in the tasting room for many years. Paul is part of our original team, and also helps with harvest. He can usually be found manning the tasting room bar during the week, or on the weekends sharing duties with our other staff members. Paul is one-in-a-million…one of the most knowledgeable people we’ve ever worked with, as his life experience from many backgrounds comes to play here at Porter Creek.
Karly Wilson grew up Colorado and ultimately moved to California in 2013 because she was young and free. She started working at Porter Creek that Autumn after being lured by the promise of good wine… and has been assisting us on Saturdays and for special events ever since. Now in her dotage, her hobbies include brooding on windswept bluffs overlooking the ocean and embroidering memes onto handkerchiefs.
Ali is a long-time local who lives just around the corner from Porter Creek Vineyards. She started helping out at the tasting room a couple of years ago, when…as a customer, she was recruited from the crowd to help pour our wines when things got busy! Ali is a natural when it comes to making everyone feel at home…so she is a perfect fit. Ali also has extensive sales experience, and has a farm of her own.
These are the people who deserve much of the credit for the wines we produce. We take pride in providing living wages, medical benefits, and a working environment free of the toxic chemicals that are commonly used at other non-organic vineyard sites. Most of our employees have been with us for more than ten years, and are finely attuned to nuanced vineyard practices on the estate.
