George R. Davis grew up without his father who as Killed in Action during World War II. George Fleming Davis, as the youngest full Commander in the US Navy was in command of the USS Walke at a time when it was beset by Kamikazes. His gun crews were able to shoot down four, however a fifth exploded on the ship Commander Davis was able to guide his vessel to safety even though the bridge was engulfed in flames with him on it. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
One of our parcels was planted in 1973, making it one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley.
Our first vineyard tractor came with the property. Alex learned to drive this many years before learning to drive a car.
