Andrew became interested in wine in a rather round about way. For the vast majority of his life he dedicated himself to traveling and rock climbing. After several trips to France, he finally became displeased with his ignorance and capabilities of finding a delicious wine to his taste. What started in a quest to find a good value wine grew into reading book after book of wine related topics, beginning with the common introductory wine book, to eventually textbooks on viticulture, soil science, and enology.
Inevitably, Andrew decided the nomadic life of working seasonally, travelling and climbing wasn’t for him anymore, and it was time to pursue a career in wine whole- heartedly. After some fortuitous harvest and vineyard experience, Andrew started working here at Porter Creek as the Assistant Winegrower. Aside from work he still climbs, skateboards, does some photography, and enjoys all the beautiful natural places Sonoma has to offer.
